    Overview
    Charles McWells is the Director of Creative Connections at the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse. A native of Los Angeles, he was diagnosed with AIDS and told that he had less than two years to live. Convinced that God had other plans for him, Mr. McWells has dedicated the past thirty years of his life to raising HIV/AIDS awareness within the African American community. Mr. McWells is currently the Director of Creative Connections at the Los Angeles Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (LA CADA). Mr. McWells' community leadership activities include serving as Co-Dean of the United Methodist Church's Strength for the Journey HIV/AIDS Retreat and co-hosting the Division of Community Engagement of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science's "Good News Radio Magazine," a live, weekly radio broadcast.
