overview Pluscedia Williams, also known as "Ms. Plus", has devoted her life to helping and working for her community and church; she is a true community advocate. She describes herself as a product of the community and one who speaks from the heart. She brings expertise in community engagement through her involvement in community-academic research collaboratives, working on diverse research topics, including depression, cancer, diabetes, and pre-term pregnancy. She is a Community Faculty member at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science and a past member of the of their Institutional Review Board. She is a member of the Community Engaged Research Program at the Lundquist Institute and served as a community partner on a PCORI-funded study of ways to improve depression care quality in underserved communities. Ms. Plus served as president American Public Health Association's National Community-Based Organizations Network (NCBON) during the years 2016-2017. She has given presentations at the local, state, and national level on the importance of community participation in research at numerous conferences and forums. Ms. Plus was one of the members of the partnership that received the 2015 UCLA Landmark Program of the Year Award, the 2015 Community Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) Award, and the 2014 Joint Team Science Award given by the Association for Clinical and Translational Science and the American Federation for Medical Research for Community Partners in Care, a CPPR project on depression in under-resourced communities.
