    My primary research interest is the structure and function of diabetic kidney disease.  I have spent more than 35 years studying the relationships between kidney structure and function in patients with diabetes and other renal diseases and animal models of kidney disease.   I have extensive training in the theory and use of stereological techniques related to the structure of the kidney and other organs.  At Charles R. Drew University I am Director of the Morphometry and Stereology Laboratory where I enjoy teaching morphometric techniques to students and colleagues and continue my research related to the structure and function of the kidney.
